Oops!

So sorry folks, I've been so busy with my day job that I forgot I have a blog (that I've been miserably neglecting). Whenever I have a spare moment, I'm either at my forge, playing guitar or napping on my couch (with remote in hand).

Thinking about committing to a late new years resolution -- publish more content to this blog! Let's see how well this goes.

Hope everyone had wonderful holidays. Wishing you all a safe and healthy 2010.

Get With The Times...

Well, I finally signed up for a Facebook account - but not a personal account. Not yet, not ready for that right now. I did create a Facebook page for my Frog Song Forge online presence. Hey, between a blog, an Etsy shop, a Twitter account and now a Facebook page, this is a real accomplishment for me...I'm beginning to be a real computer geek or whatever you may [want to] call it. Just ask my wife and daughter.

Be sure to drop by my Facebook page and become a fan...if you want. Or just drop by and check it out.

A big thank you to both of my Etsy customers - your purchases are greatly appreciated!

Wishing all you Dads out there a Happy Father's Day!!

No Time For Play

My day job has been consuming quite a bit of my time lately. I'm not complaining, I'm grateful for a job. But I haven't even had time to mow my lawn yet and believe me, the yard is quickly becoming a jungle!

Just want to say sorry to all of you who are anxiously awaiting a post from me; and any Etsy followers who are waiting for a new piece to be added to my shop. Soon folks, very soon!

Thanks for your patience.

I'm accepting orders for railroad spike knives. Knives are hand forged from high carbon railroad spikes - twisted handles, 1-piece construction, 4" to 4 ½" blades. Each knife is made upon ordering - no two knives are the same.

Price: $55.00 per knife - must be paid-in-full upon ordering - payments accepted through PayPal only (debit or credit card - you do not need a PayPal account to use PayPal).

Each knife can take up to 8-weeks for delivery. Within 10-days of receiving your order, if, for any reason, you are not completely satisfied with your knife, return it and I will refund your payment in full.

Contact me to order your knife - you will receive knife & ordering details and a PayPal invoice via email.

New Blog

Hi and welcome to my new blog. My name's Eric and I'm an artisan - a bladesmith, woodworker and a photographer. Although I am a professional photographer, this blog will mainly focus on my hand forged knives and wood crafts (photos coming soon).

About my knives: I have been handcrafting blades since 2003. Currently, I focus on knife making. Blades are made to perfection using an old-fashioned metal-forge (hand forge), with custom carved wood handles; all fitted together perfectly. I specialize in Bowie knives, hunting knives, fighting knives, boot knives, daggers and railroad spike knives. All my knives are one-of-a-kind and made solely by me.

Knives are full tang with hardwood handles and peened on butt caps. Blades are hand forged from 5160 spring steel; they are hardened and heat-treated. Railroad spike blades are forged from 1035 high carbon spikes. Guards & butt caps are made from either 5160 or mild steel. Handles are custom made from various hardwoods.

At the moment, I don't work on commission (accept special orders); however, if you’re interested in purchasing a knife, visit my shop to browse through my wide selection of available knife styles. Some knives are made upon ordering, and some knives are already made & ready to ship. Although many of my knife styles are used as templates for new orders, please keep in mind that upon completion, no two knives are alike. Knives ordered from style templates takes up to 8-weeks for delivery. Check back often for updates & notifications when a new knife style is available.

Recently I have been dabbling in metal crafts other than blades. Be sure to browse through my section "Metal Crafts" at my shop, to see what I have to offer.

About my woodworking: My interest in woodworking developed during high school, but it wasn't until I started my first job (carpentry) that my interest turned into a hobby. From a hobby, it turned into a way to earn extra money.

I have been building wood crafts for 20+ years. I make a variety of crafts - bird & bat houses, bird feeders, small tables, step stools, radiator covers, benches, porch swings and more. I also create detailed fretwork items such as wall hangings, tissue box covers, wooden cards and more.

I work with hard woods such as maple and cherry - and some soft woods like pine. Because I try my best to be Earth friendly & recycle, I usually work with used wood or discarded wood (from contractors, lumber companies, etc.).

Much like with my knives, I usually accept orders from already built 'templates'; however, if you have something in mind, feel free to contact me and I'll try my best to accommodate you. Be sure to drop by my shop and browse the available products and wood craft templates. [If ordering from a template, delivery time varies upon wood craft ordered]
